CreativesDC

Building an enthusiastic creative community in DC

We had a GREAT e-chat yesterday to plan the next CreativesDC meeting, which will be featured in the Washington Post!

We have a couple spaces open for presenters. Any suggestions for dynamic entrepreneurial women who are using creativity to grow their businesses? We're focusing on women this time to honor the venue - National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Thanks for your help!

Definitely contact Marga Fripp who founded both Empowered Women International and the Entrepreneurship Academy for Artists. She can be reached at CFripp@aol.com. Her websites: www.ewint.org, www.artbizacademy.com. She's a true visionary.

Not sure if I fit in since I didn't start the business but I am the East Coast Coordinator for CHALK4PEACE, a global non-profit organization that is just growing by leaps and bounds. I would like to think that I helped out in it's spread here in this area, especially, going from a small neighborhood event to a worldwide event over 4 continents. We will be doing an event at Artomatic and since I started 3 years ago doing C4P in one of my schools in Fairfax County, I've developed a Teach Peace curriculum and we've gone from maybe 5 or 6 schools participating to over 50 this year.

Btw, we're looking at fun ways for people to provide feedback on how 'crowdsourceable' the presented ideas are, in that, how compelling are the ideas in welcoming the attendees to participate in those presented ideas beyond the event. We'll have breakout sessions based on this after the presentations, which was a favorite experience of the CreativesDC event in January.

I would like to suggest the Serinity Knight, I would declare as a dynamic entrepreneurial woman in the Arts who would like to be a part of this event.

I am the founding artist for The Colour of Craft healing Arts Studio Gallery Workshop Center {CCHA} in the district. It is a multicultural organization that will be based primarily on featuring women and artists of colour who are master craft artisans and master artists of their craft.

I was going to suggest Marga Fripp and Marielle Mariano, so I'll affirm their earlier nominations, and add Nicolette Pizzitola, of Compass Point Associates www.CompassPointAssociates.org
