What is your interest in the CreativesDC beta community?
As an art gallery director and curator, it has been my great pleasure to work closely with the DC Creative community.
As an artist, I find multiple avenues to present my art to broad audiences.
I look forward to making new connections, and strengthening exisiting ones, in this forum.
How are you using your imagination and original ideas to enrich our economy and culture in DC, and beyond? Or, how would you like it to?
Everyday I strive to make new connections that bring together organizations with individuals who are using their art to make a difference. Social, political, and humanitarian issues are of great interest. I work to keep the artists' interests paramount in decision making processes, and find clients that are thrilled to own my artists' work.

Ishim (Deidree Bennett) is a self-taught representational painter. Daughter of an artist, she has worked in nearly every medium, including but not limited to: photography, clay, sculpture, jewelry design and production, metalsmithing, murals, prop design, and oil painting.
She focused on oil and pastels for portraiture at the open session group she moderated for two years at Montgomery College in Rockville. Her work from this endeavor received honorable placement at Glenview mansion through the Rockville Arts League.
At Artery 717 gallery in Alexandria, Deidree had the opportunity to show large format installation pieces for the May 2008 exhibit (which focused on the sacrifices given by those in the military, and the futility of torture), as well as showing in the permanent erotic art collection.
Her unique recycled jewelry designs are currently available in the retail shop at Vis Arts: Metropolitan Center for the Arts in Rockville, MD.
Most recently, Ishim showed multi media paintings and a mural as part of her “Compression” exhibit at Artomatic’s 10th anniversary show in 2009. Detailing her recent experiences living with a genetic disorder, Compression was an engaging advocacy piece with tremendous impact. She was granted funding by the National Lymphedema Network, Medi, and Lymphedema Products to bring her vision to reality.
