What is your interest in the CreativesDC beta community?
I'm interested in meeting other individuals involved with visual art, performance art, design, architecture, film, and animation.
I'm also interested in meeting local artisans and craftspeople. The projects that my company does often require unique and interesting items so I'm always looking to meet skilled weavers, textile designers, carpenters, and painters.
How are you using your imagination and original ideas to enrich our economy and culture in DC, and beyond? Or, how would you like it to?
In 2010 I will launch a full service Interior and Product design firm in Washington, DC. My vision for the firm is that it will serve as a new channel for, small scale, local artisans to get their crafts viewed and purchased by a larger audience.
Bio (html accepted)
Christopher Boutlier was born on a dairy farm in Louisiana. At the age of 12, Chris decided that he had no intention of spending his life dredging the family pond to keep leeches off the cattle. In order to escape the 200 acre farm, Chris agreed to attend an all boy's boarding school. During one weekend trip, Chris stumbled into the High Museum of Art where he saw Turner's "Slave Ship." He was never the same.
