COME OUT AND PARTICIPATE!
ARTOMATIC SUNDAY, JUNE 28th 12pm-3pm
This year, Artomatic is working with us to create a chalk art event furthering our goal to encourage peace education through the arts. I will be leading a workshop on Sunday the 28th. Younger participants will get to listen to me read Todd Parr’s “The Peace Book,” talk about how we communicate peace through actions and imagery, then sketch out images of peace before heading out to the sidewalk outside in front of the Artomatic building to create final chalk art images of peace. If you’re older, come and help out the young ones (Please let me know if you’d like to volunteer to help. I could use it!!) or just come for the sidewalk art part, probably around 1pm or so, YOU TOO can add to the large chalk art "peace." We will meet on the 8th floor in the Children’s Workshop area at 12pm and head down to the sidewalk probably around 1ish.

Young artists of all ages are invited to join us on Sunday to spread the message of peace using sidewalk chalk!

CHALK4PEACE has grown through the efforts of hundreds of events organizers, teachers, parents, community outreach coordinators, libraries, arts centers and other peace minded individuals and organizations. Information on the Youth PROMISE Act will also be available. The Youth PROMISE Act (HR 1064/S 435) is bipartisan legislation that will give our communities the support and funding they need to effectively address youth violence issues. By specifically focusing on violence prevention and intervention strategies, this bill ensures we are funding programs that save lives and give every young person the opportunity to meet his or her potential.
