The Oakleaf Group, LLC is seeking a UI rock star for an immediate start with a well-established Clean Tech / Green energy firm based in Arlington, VA. Must have deep experience in wireframes, graphics, html pages, CSS, and JavaScript and must understand how these are contained in either .NET (preferred), JSP or PHP. You don’t need to have experience coding in .NET, JSP or PHP, but you need to be able to manipulate them at a basic level.
Role:
As UI and Front End Developer, you will be working with a dynamic product development team on a cutting edge product supporting the company’s goal of being the predominant software platform vendor of the Smart Energy Grid.
* You will create user-centered design that helps direct and inspire the other members of the product development team
* You will be responsible for designing the user experience of our interactive applications
* You will help define usability and features of our applications
* You will create deliverables such as flow diagrams, interaction schematics, and content maps
* You will conceive the visual design and craft high-quality visual design elements
* You will develop interactive prototypes to gain stakeholder commitment
* You will work with Product Managers, Development Managers, Quality Assurance Engineers, and customer stakeholders - so the ability and desire to collaborate and work closely with others is a key requirement
* Also, because our technology is not limited to the Web, you will be expected to branch out and design for other types of user interfaces including desktop applications and embedded device displays
Tasks will include:
* You will create screenshots to depict application concepts to Product Management
* You will sit with the Dev Team and use Visual Studio and use visual artifacts into a C# environment, (but you will not have to actually touch C#)
* Develop wireframes/schematics to depict the IA and interaction design
* Champion “Web 2.0” design patterns
* Conduct a web interface build out
* Implement interactive widgets using CSS
* Debug CSS browser compatibility issues
* Write JavaScript to support UI functions
* Check in and manage project artifacts from the source control system
* Solve human factors problems for software applications
* Work with XML and XSL
* Create and rasterize vector based art
* Create production ready HTML pages for hand off to a junior developer
* Implement W3C accessibility
* Plan for I18N user interface issues
* Manipulate existing ASP.Net and C# code
* Slice composites and optimize the graphics
* Contemplate and refine the menu organization for an embedded display
* Solving human factors issues relating to software applications
Candidate should possess the following:
* Four year degree from an accredited institution
* Five or more years experience
* Examples of past work
* Prior experience in product development
* Bachelor’s degree in a related field
* Expert abilities with appropriate design tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, Visio, etc.
* Working knowledge of HTML and CSS to build interactive prototypes
* Strong usability analysis skills; knowledge of usability principles and techniques
* Knowledge of accessibility guidelines desirable
* Ability to design/develop in Adobe Flash a plus
